A Clovis man was arrested Saturday in connection with the alleged hit-and-run of a police SUV in San Luis Obispo last month, the California Highway Patrol said.
Officers with the Santa Maria Police Department and CHP arrested Wade Evin Hamby, 49, on Cat Lane in Santa Maria around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to the CHP, Hamby's Chevrolet pickup rear-ended the marked police SUV on northbound Highway 101 north of Prado Road in the early-morning hours of December 31.
The impact caused the driver of the SUV, Sergeant Jeff Booth, to lose control of the vehicle and hit the guardrail in the center divider. Sergeant Booth was treated for minor injuries. He had been on routine patrol at the time of the collision.
Witnesses saw a white Chevrolet pickup leaving the scene.
Hamby was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of a collision which resulted in injury to another person.
