For the third-straight year, the Arroyo Grande High basketball teams swept Nipomo in their annual rivalry doubleheader. Nipomo High hosted the twin-bill this season. The AG girls opened with a 34-24 win followed by a 68-26 win by the Eagle boys.
The AG boys improved to 5-1 on the season, while the Titans dropped to 1-4. AG led 21-7 after the first quarter and 40-16 at the half. Cobe Williams led the Eagles with 15 points, while Andrew Midyett added 13 points. Dylan Brigham added 10 points and 5 rebounds. Matt Willkomm scored 7 points and dished out 8 assists.
Kaileb Mendez led the Titans with 8 points, while Freddy Ruiz added 7.
AG shot 54% for the game, while the Titans made just 22 percent of their shots from the floor. The Eagles outrebounded the Titans 41-19.
The Arroyo Grande girls improved to 3-2 on the season with their 34-24 win. Elizabeth Mero led the Eagles with 10 points, while Ashyln Herlihy added 10 rebounds and Krista St. Denis recorded 8 steals. Sophomore Olivia Galindo added 7 points for the Eagles.
The AG girls have won 11-straight meetings with the Titans.
