A farm for nursing home residents to grow their own produce from wheelchair accessible planters is now open.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held this afternoon for the grand opening of The Farm at the Arroyo Grande Care Center.
The Farm is designed as a therapy garden that helps patients regain their strength, while feeding low income seniors.
They grow produce and sell their vegetables at local farmers markets.
"You have to have a reason to get out of bed in the morning, and projects like the farm, where people are going out working for their community still contributing to their community, gives people that reason to get out of bed," said Matthew Lysobey.
60 out of 95 residents are involved with the farm.
