Arroyo Grande Community Hospital will be closing its outpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program effective Feb. 19. In a letter to patients in the program, hospital president Rick Castro said after much consideration it's been determined the program is "no longer viable."

The hospital is referring patients to programs at Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria and French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo. Several area fitness centers like Kennedy Club Fitness, Fitness 19 and Pismo Beach Athletic Club are also offering discounts to AGCH Rehab patients.

Some long-time cardiac rehab patients are not happy with the closure, saying they depend on the medically trained personnel.
