A panel of judges are visiting Arroyo Grande this weekend to see how the city ranks in the "America in Bloom" National Competition.
This is the seventh time Arroyo Grande has entered into the program.
It's one of 28 towns in the country that is working on local beautification projects. Back in 2010 and 2011, the city won three outstanding achievement awards.
Arroyo Grande is competing against three cities from Missouri, Massachusetts, and New York that all have similar population sizes.
"They judge us on six different criteria: heritage, preservation, urban landscaping, forestry, flowers, overall impression, that sort of thing," said Bob Lund of the Arroyo Grande in Bloom group.
The three judges are in town until Sunday evaluating the city. All of them are experts on horticulture.
