Arroyo Grande golf finishes 18th at CIF Team Championships

The magical and historic season of the Arroyo Grande High boys golf team ended on Thursday at the CIF Southern Section Team Championships in Desert Springs. The Eagles fired a combined score of 399 at the Mission Lakes Country Club to finish in 18th place out of 21 teams.

Oaks Christian won the title with a total score of 371. The top four teams advanced to the Southern California Regional. AG missed the cut by 18 strokes.

Cal Poly recruit Mitch Martin led AG with a four over par 75. The course measured 6,739 yards. Martin, the Pac 7 League MVP, will still compete at the CIF Individual Tournament on Monday at the River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard.

Conner Sandman fired a 79 for the Eagles ,while Josh Schneider and Cobe Williams carded 82s. Tristan Bergmann-Lagano added an 81 and senior Alex Linn shot an 87 for the Pac 7 League champions.

The lowest round of the day was a 3-under 68 by Diamond Bar sophomore Sahith Theegala.

Arroyo Grande finished the team portion of the season with its first league title since 1995 and its first-ever CIF Divisional championship.
