Artists of all kinds were invited to paint the streets this weekend.
The 21st annual I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival was held at Mission Plaza in San Luis Obispo on Saturday and Sunday.
More than 200 artists, from children to professionals, used chalk to paint pavement squares.
The squares, ranging in size from 4-by-6 feet to 12-by-12 feet, were sponsored by local businesses, families, individuals, and others.
The event is a fundraiser for the Children's Creative Project, an arts education program for students in local schools.
They are co-presenting the festival with the American Institute of Architects.
