ASH inmate attacks a deputy in San Luis Obispo County Jail

The San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Department says an Atascadero State Hospital inmate has attacked a correctional deputy at the San Luis Obispo County Jail.

Jimmy Scota Martinez, 41, was transferred to jail back in August of 2011 from the Atascadero State Hospital and was waiting trial on charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon and felony battery with serious bodily injury.

Martinez refused to leave his jail cell and made verbal threats to deputies. A team was organized and removed him from his cell. But during that time a deputies were forced to use pepper spray and tasered Martinez.

Maritnez used a razor blade on one correction deputy. That deputy was injured and required medical attention. Martinez was not injured in the altercation and now will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
