The Santa Barbara County Fire Department says at least eight people have been displaced after a fire broke out in their apartment building Tuesday morning in Goleta.

Firefighters say the fire started at an apartment building in the 7600 block of Cathedral Oaks. Firefighters had the flames controlled by 9:15 a.m.

A fire department spokesperson says the smoke alarm in the apartment did not go off.

The fire caused damage to the first and second stories of the building.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation and facial burns.
