The Atascadero and Paso Robles boys basketball teams both won semifinal games at the Atascadero Christmas Tournament on Friday night. The two rivals will play for the championship of the 48th annual tournament on Saturday at 3:15pm.
Paso Robles beat Montclair, 66-60 behind 29 points from junior guard Josh Wilson-Murry. Wilson-Murry scored 30 points in the Bearcats first round win against Roseville. It's his first action of the season after missing the teams first nine games. Paso Robles was down one point going into the fourth quarter before outscoring Montclair, 24-17 in the final eight minutes. The Bearcats are now 4-7.
Atascadero cruised past Templeton, 61-44 to reach the finals. It was the Greyhounds second win of the season against the Eagles, they won the first matchup on December 13, 79-49. Junior guard Jared Studeman led Atascadero with 17 points, he added 7 rebounds. Junior guard Robbie Berwick scored 15 points to go along with 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Atascadero has now won six of its last seven games after starting the season 0-5.
Atascadero and Paso Robles will play a Pac-7 game against each other on January 7th, Saturday's championship game will be a non-league matchup.
