An Atascadero business owner whose mural almost cost him a big chunk of change is off the hook.

The mural at the the "K-Man Cycle and Run" store shows two cyclists. At first, the city said it was a way for the business to advertise, and that the owner should pay a 600-dollar sign permit fee.
But Tuesday night, the Atascadero City Council voted to change its sign ordinance.

Any future murals will have to go through the review and permit process, but will not be subject to a permit fee.

The changes mean K-Man Cycle & Run can avoid the fee.
