Atascadero High graduate Brandon Roberts capped his Cal Poly football career with another academic honor. Roberts was one of four Mustangs named to the Great West Conference All-Academic Team for the 2011 season.
Roberts, Matt Sullivan, Keaton Taylor and Kyle Mohamed received the honor.
Roberts, a defensive end, earned 16 tackles, including four for lost yardage and one sack in his senior season. He is a three-time Great West All-Academic selection.
Sullivan, a defensive tackle, secured 4 tackles and 1 quarterack hurry for the Mustangs. Taylor, a linebacker and special teams captain, recorded 13 tackles.
Mohamed, a junior, compiled 4 tackles. He was named to the All-Academic team for a second time in his career.
48 players were named to the All-Great West Conference Academic Team based on a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA. The athletes must also have participated in at least 50 percent of their team's contests. Freshmen and junior college transfers are not eligible for the honor.
The Mustangs finished the 2011 with a 6-5 mark, their eighth winning season in the last nine years. They also claimed their fourth Great West title in the eight-year history of the conference.
