The national signing festivities continue along the Central Coast. On Friday, another national letter of intent was signed at Atascadero High School.

Baseball start Bryce Cherry signed his letter of intent to play at Point Loma Nazarene University, which is located in San Diego. Point Loma advanced to the NAIA national championship game last year and was ranked number two in this year's preseason poll.

Bryce dominated last spring for the Greyhounds. Cherry had a ridiculous .500 batting average and 38 runs batted in. His on-base percentage was .573. Bryce said he picked Point Loma over Division-I programs like UC Davis and Nevada because of its tradition of success, coaches and facilities.

"It's a big day. I'm really excited," said Cherry. "I'm looking forward to getting out there and playing at the college level. I think it's a great experience and an honor."

Earlier this week, the school celebrated the accomplishments of Jamie Council. The girl's soccer star accepted a scholarship to Cal State San Bernadino.
The matchup was almost meant to be because the University's head coach graduated from Atascadero High and Jaime was born in San Bernadino.

"It's amazing just because I've been playing soccer ever since I can remember and the dream has always been get a college scholarship but now that it's actually happened it's like a dream come true," said Council.

At least one more signing is scheduled to take place next week at Righetti High School.
