The City of Atascadero will start removing sediment at Atascadero Lake next week.
The city approved an emergency environmental enhancement project last month.
The whole project could cost up to $70,000.
A local construction company has been contracted to remove sediment from the dry lake bed so it can improve the water quality.
The project will increase the depth of the south end of the lake and remove the soils that lead to heavy algae blooms.
The lake will be five to ten percent deeper by the time crews are finished.
