The Greyhounds are ready to begin their chase for a CIF title.
Atascadero High football got in a final practice Thursday afternoon before hitting the road Friday for a first round CIF playoff match.
The Hounds will play at 8-2 Buena down in Ventura.
Atascadero went 7-3 in the regular season.
Under head coach Vic Cooper, Atascadero has made it to the second round the previous two postseasons.
The Hounds are coming off a tough one-point loss to their rivals from Paso Robles.
Players say they are chomping at the bit for the chance to bounce back and win in the postseason.
"We had a very big let down against Paso. We hope to redeem ourselves for sure. We hope to get another win and get one step closer to the title. We think we have the players to do it this year," said senior wide receiver Kelton DeLore.
"It's one and done. You play one game if you lose, you're done, you're out for the season. We just have to stay up and do the best we can in the playoffs," said senior linebacker Brent Poulin.
Buena features a potent passing game and averages 30 points per game.
Atascadero averages 28 points per contest.
Kick off at Buena High School Friday will be at 7 pm.
