Nine days after Atascadero beat Paso Robles in the Atascadero Tournament the Greyhounds defeated the Bearcats again but this time it counted in the Pac-7 standings. Atascadero won 73-48 at Paso Robles on Monday night to improve to 9-6 overall, 2-0 in the Pac-7. Paso Robles drops to 4-11, 0-3 in League. When the teams played for the Atascadero Tournament crown on December 29, the Greyhounds won 68-58.
Atascadero was ahead 38-18 at the half. The Greyhounds stretched the lead to 64-33 by the end of the third.
Atascadero senior guard Brady Youngquist made five of six attempts from behind the three point line and scored a game-high 15 points. Junior guard Joseph Johnson scored 14 points and had three steals while junior guard Robbie Berwick had 8-points, 10-assists and 6-rebounds.
Sophomore post Josh Oliver led the Bearcats with 11-points on five of six shooting. Junior guard Josh Wilson-Murry was held to 9-points. Wilson-Murry entered the game averaging 25.4 points in the five games he's played this season.
Atascadero hosts Arroyo Grande and Paso Robles plays at San Luis Obispo on Wednesday.
The Atascadero girls completed the sweep over the Bearcats on Monday with a 39-21 win. The Hounds are 1-1 in league, while Paso Robles fell to 1-2. Maddie Leong led the Greyhounds with 12 points, while Mary Kate Evans added 16 rebounds. Molly Donovan led the Bearcats with 16 points.
