Allan Hancock College golfer Austin Kaiser finished at one-over par with a 143 to finish in fourth place at the California Community College Athletic Association Men's Golf State Championships on Monday. Hancock College hosted the event at the Santa Maria Country Club.
Kaiser shot a two-over, 73 in the first round. The Atascadero High graduate recorded two birdies, two bogies and one double-bogey in his first 18 holes. He fired a one-under, 70 in his second round. Kaiser scored four birdies and three bogies during his second round to finish with 143. He was the only member of the Bulldogs to qualify for the championship.
Austin Grey from the College of the Desert won the State Championship with a total score of 139. He helped College of the Desert win the team title as well.
Kaiser finished the regular season with the best average score in the Western State Conference, a 72.6, and was named the conference MVP. He placed seventh at the Southern California Regionals with a score of 146 to qualify for the state finals as an individual. The Hancock sophomore finished fifth in the state championships last season.
Kaiser was named the PAC 7 League MVP and earned All-CIF honors his senior season at Atascadero High.
He will play at San Diego State next year.
