Authorities searching for woman who robbed Central Coast bank

Law enforcement officers are searching for the person who robbed a Central Coast bank Thursday, the third bank robbery in San Luis Obispo County in the last two weeks.

Around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Coast Hills Federal Credit Union at the Vons shopping center in Nipomo was robbed.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office says a woman entered the bank, asked for money and ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officials say they are searching for a Hispanic woman between 35 and 40-years-old, approximately 5' 7'' with a heavy build.

She was wearing blue-tinted sunglasses, a black shirt, black hat, jeans, and black purse.

Officials say she told the teller she had a gun, but did not pull it out.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Tony Cipolla says, "Obviously, the bank was open for business, so there are a number of witnesses involved, and so we're in the process of interviewing all of those witnesses, trying to find out maybe where the suspect went."

On Monday, a bank was robbed in Atascadero and last week, another bank was robbed in Paso Robles.
