After winning an online competition, the Smith family's $20,000 backyard makeover is now complete.
The family lives in Orcutt, and their new backyard is now more accessible for Aaron Smith, husband and father, who was paralyzed in a skiing accident.
Houselogic.com hosted the "Boost Your Roost" competition, and they will reveal the makeover in upcoming segments on their website.
Wife and mother, Allison Smith, says they are enjoying their new backyard.
"Never in a hundred years could I imagine it would look as beautiful as it has turned out. I don't even recognize it as our yard. It's amazing," she said. "This has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We all, all three of us, recognize how special it really was to participate in a true dream come true."
Allison says her family can now get around their new yard easily and with no accessibility issues.
She says they worked with contest and marketing organizers to have the work done by local contractors.
The Smiths competed nationally and were one of six finalists.
