Beach hazards statement in effect from Sunday morning through
The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a
Beach Hazards Statement for above normal surf...which is in
effect from Sunday morning through Monday evening.
* Hazards and timing...surf will build to 8 to 10 feet Sunday
night and continue through Monday evening.
* Location...the highest surf will be on west to northwest facing
beaches...where local sets to 12 feet will be possible on
* Impacts...elevated surf will cause an increased danger of rip
currents...and a risk of sneaker waves which are capable of
washing people into the sea from rocks...jetties...and beaches.
