Eli Vargas hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eleventh inning to deliver a thrilling walk-off victory for the Paso Robles High baseball team on Thursday. The Bearcats won a pitchers' duel 1-0 to hand San Luis Obispo its first PAC 7 league loss of the season.
Vargas came up with the bases loaded and no outs and skied one deep enough to allow T.J. Durfee to tag up and score the only run of the game.
Paso's Josh Ramirez and the Tigers' Davey Casciola each threw 10 scoreless innings. Ramirez allowed just 4 hits and struck out 3, while Casciola allowed 6 hits and fanned 8.
The Bearcats won despite committing 6 errors in the game.
The Tigers fell to 10-1 in league play and saw their 11 game winning streak come to an end. The Bearcats improved to 8-3 in PAC 7 action. The teams close out their three game series on Friday at 4:30 pm in San Luis Obispo.
