Many people believe Atascadero's Robbie Berwick is the most talented high school player on the Central Coast. Wednesday night, the junior point guard supported their arguments with a dominant fourth quarter performance. Berwick scored 15 of his game-high 31 points in the final eight minutes to lead the Greyhounds to a come-from-behind 49-48 win over defending Pac 7 League champion Arroyo Grande.
The Eagles led 37-31 after three quarters, but Berwick opened the fourth quarter with three-straight 3 point baskets. He finished with five buckets from beyond the arc.
Matt Willkomm led the Eagles with 14 points and drained four 3-pointers. Carson Wack hit two from downtown to finish with 6 points, while DeSean Scott added 8 points for AG. The Eagles fell to 1-3 in Pac 7 play and 12-6 for the season.
Atascadero stayed red hot behind Berwick. The Greyhounds, who started the season 0-5 under first year head coach Matt Knudson, have now won 10 of their last 11 games. Atascadero is 10-6 on the year and a perfect 3-0 in league. The Hounds are tied for first with idle Righetti in the league standings. Jared Sutdemann and Connor Kim each had 5 points for Atascadero.
