A new bicycle lane is now open on the Santa Maria River Bridge.
The class 1 lane is part of the $34.8 million bridge widening project, and is adjacent to the southbound lanes of Highway 101, allowing cyclists to ride northbound or southbound across the bridges.
Stage three of the Santa Maria River Bridge project is expected to be fully completed early next year.
