Bicyclist recovers in hospital after collision with car

A bicyclist is recovering from a collision that took place Friday morning. The California Highway Patrol reports a vehicle hit a bicyclist around 8:25 a.m.
It happened at the intersection of Lakeview Road and Orcutt Road in Santa Maria. The CHP says a bicyclist was weaving through traffic and rode directly into the path of a car. According to the driver of the car, she applied her brakes, but was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the bicyclist.
The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time and was taken to a local hospital for a possible lower leg injury. The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the accident.
