RENO, Nev. (AP) - The jury at a rape and murder trial in Reno will not hear directly from the man accused of the string of attacks, including the 2008 kidnapping and killing of 19-year-old Brianna Denison.

With the jury outside the courtroom, James Biela told Washoe District Judge Robert Perry Tuesday morning that he wanted to testify to defend himself against the one count each of murder and kidnapping and three counts of sexual assault.

But after the judge warned him about the potential
repercussions, Biela said he decided against testifying based on the advice of his lawyers.

The prosecution rested its case late Monday. The 12th day of the trial is under way and it is expected to go to the jury by Wednesday.
