More than a week after Election Day the City of Morro Bay's Mayoral Race is finally in the books.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Bill Yates had 50 percent of the vote, and current Councilwoman Betty Winholtz had 48 percent.
Just 73 votes separate the two candidates but the county clerk recorder's office says there are only 70 ballots left to be counted.
Yates says he is looking forward to serving another two years as Morro Bay's mayor.
He plans to focus on the economy and brining more business to the city.
Winholtz's council term expires on December 8, that is the same day Yates will be sworn in.
