Yesterday's fire off highway 101 at Refugio Road was started by an electrical arc. That's the conclusion of investigators with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

They say the 10 acre fire started when a bird caused the elecrtrical power to arc and travel down the support stay line igniting the vegetation around it. The resulting fire burned almost ten acres at highway 101. It started around 4:30 yesterday afternoon. No structures were damaaged and crews had the flames under control by about 7:00 p.m. Traffic was slowed through the area as crews worked the flames from the air and ground.
