One of the most precious gifts you can give this holiday season is often overlooked.
Supplies at blood banks are running low. That's because donors are hard to find during the holidays. At the donation center in San Luis Obispo they are in critical need of
O- negative blood. Officials are trying to get the word out before the New Year's festivities begin.
United Blood Services employee, Janna Nichols says, "People forget that blood is perishable, just like milk or orange juice and so we do need to replenish our supply often and we get people to give three times a year we don't have a shortage very often."
Donors must be at least 16-years-old and weigh at least 110 pounds.
