Bloomquist named NCBWA All-American

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Cal Poly Sophomore Casey Bloomquist has another accolade to add to his growing collection. The Bakersfield native was named a First Team All-American by the National College Baseball Writers Association on Wednesday.

Bloomquist was one of the most effective pitchers in the country this past season, finishing fifth in the nation with 12 victories, which is one off Cal Poly's single-season record. The Sophomore sported a 1.56 ERA, second best among starting pitchers in the Big West conference.

Junior pitcher Matt Imhof was named to the NCBWA's Second Team, while sophomore infielder Mark Mathias was named to the Third Team.
