The San Luis Obispo Blues beat the Santa Maria Valley Packers, 24-4 at Sinsheimer Park on Friday night. The game was second game of the Rawlings Cup Tournament for both teams. The Rawlings Cup is an annual tournament held in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara. Four teams in each city play a round round robing tournament with the winners meeting in the championship on Sunday in Santa Barbara. Sunday's winner will earn an automatic berth in the NBC World Series.
For the Blues, Kyle Johnson was 5-5 with three RBI, Will Maddox went 2-7 with a home run and four RBI, catcher Daniel Garner was 3-3 with a double and two RBI while left fielder Michael Pritchard was 3-4 with a triple and two RBI.
The fourth ranked Blues are now 2-0 at the Rawlings Cup, the Packers drop to 0-2. San Luis Obispo will take on the Menlo Park on Saturday at 4 p.m. A win would guarantee the Blues a spot in Sunday's championship game.
