The San Luis Obispo Blues shutout the Major League Academy Barons for eight of the nine innings on Sunday afternoon. The Barons scored four in the the fourth inning though and that was enough to beat the Blues in San Luis Obispo, 4-3. For the Blues it was just their second loss in 14 games.
The Blues were up 1-0 when the Barons scored four times off of Blues starter Mathew Frank in the fourth. Only one of the runs Frank allowed was earned as he was let down by the defense behind him. The Blues scored twice in the bottom of the fourth but couldn't muster any more runs the rest of the game.
San Luis Obispo drops to 15-6 on the season, 10-4 in the California Collegiate League. The Barons improve to 9-4, 6-4 in league play. The Blues are still in first place, a game ahead of Santa Barbara. The Foresters are 8-4 in the California Collegiate league.
The Blues play a league game at Conejo (10-7) on Monday night before returning for eight home games in eight days starting Tuesday.
