Thanks to six RBI from Bryan Peters, the San Luis Obispo Blues celebrated the franchise's 66th birthday with a thrilling come-from-behind 12-8 win over the Menlo Park Legends on Saturday night in Sinsheimer Stadium.
The win snapped the Blues' season-long four-game losing streak and improved their record to 17-10.
The Blues fell behind 7-0 after the top of the fifth inning before they started to chip away. They scored one in the fifth on an error. They added two in the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Peters and a run-scoring double from Matt Shortall to make it a 7-3 deficit.
San Luis Obispo exploded for six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The big blow game on a bases clearing double from Peters that drove in 3 runs to give the Blues their first lead of the game 8-7. He later scored on a wild pitch to make it a 9-7 game.
Peters, a senior infielder from the University of Nebraska, added two insurance runs in the eighth with a triple to drive in Tanner Witt and Will Maddox.
All told, Peters went 2 for 3 with 6 RBI and 2 runs scored. Maddox added 2 hits and scored 4 runs.
The Blues were out-hit 14-10, but managed to get the clutch hits when it mattered the most.
The Legends head north on Sunday to take on the North County Indians at 1pm. The Blues host the Neptune Beach Pearl Sunday at 1pm.
