The bomb squad was called out to the Carpinteria Post Office Wednesday night, after a suspicious package was found at the post office's loading dock.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department says the package was found at about 7:15 p.m. The sheriff's department says ten apartment units, an adult education class at the Carpinteria Middle School, and a gym nearby were evacuated.
More than two hours later, the bomb squad determined a motorcycle tail pipe was inside the package.
No one was injured.
