The Boys & Girls Clubs of South San Luis Obispo County are now the proud owners of 16 brand new iPads, thanks to a special grant from PG&E.
The $10,000 PG&E Education Grant allowed for the purchase of the iPads, which are currently being used by club members at the Oceano Clubhouse.
Club Education Director Jordan Cooper led a special "iPad Scavenger Hunt" activity last week to celebrate the purchase.
"We are thrilled by the generosity of PG&E," says Franky Curiel, Executive Director of the Club, "Pure and simple, without their donation, there is no iPad lab."
In addition to the iPads, the Apple store in San Luis Obispo provided the clubs with a special mobile cart to store and charge the iPads.
Curiel explained that PG&E and the Apple store understand that the priority of the club is "providing opportunities that stimulate and educate our kids, while allowing them to have fun in the process. It's the key to their future success."
This isn't the first grant the organization has recieved from PG&E. In 2011, PG&E donated $73,000, which allowed for the construction of a larger, safer playground at the Oceano Teen Clubhouse.
