Branquinho remains atop world standings at National Finals Rodeo

Three-time World Champion steer wrestler Luke Branquinho remains atop the world standings after Tuesday's sixth round of the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Los Alamos resident finished fifth in Round 6 with a time of 4.3 seconds. He earned $4,711.54 on the night. His total earnings for 2012 is $132,754.59. Evan Thouvenell is in second place with $120,191.83 on the season.

The defending world champion has four more rounds to go to try to go back-to-back and capture his fourth-career title.

Paso Robles native Dugan Kelly finished ninth in the team roping competition on Tuesday with a time of 9.6 seconds. Kelly is 15th in the world standings with almost $61,000 in prize money this season.
