Lucas Martin outdueled Ryan McNeil as the Lompoc High baseball team edged Nipomo 2-1 on Tuesday in a key Los Padres League battle.
The Braves improved to 8-2 in LPL play and stayed half a game back of first place Templeton. The Titans, the defending co-league champions, fell to 6-4 in league and are tied for third place with Santa Ynez.
Martin pitched a complete game and struck out ten Titans. He allowed just 2 walks and 3 hits. The only blemish he allowed was a solo home run to McNeil, who struck out 10 Braves in a complete game loss.
The Braves tallied 5 hits in the win led by Steven Pico, who had two hits. Joe Valla added one hit with a run-batted-in.
