Behind a seven-run seventh inning, the Lompoc High baseball team advanced into the CIF Division 5 semifinals with an 8-1 win at Village Christian on Friday.
The Braves trailed 1-0 after five innings before tying it 1-1 in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly from Aaron Kidd. The Braves erupted for 7 runs in the seventh inning on run-scoring hit from Steven Pico, a three-run double from Erick Salas, RBI singles from Tyler Ornelas, Kidd and Lucas Martin.
The Braves won their tenth game in a row and improved to 22-6 overall, while the Crusaders fell to 14-13.
Martin pitched a complete game for the Braves. He scattered 5 hits and struck out 12.
The Braves play at top seeded Paraclete in the semifinals next Tuesday. Paraclete beat Santa Ynez 7-0 on Friday for its 20th win in a row.
