'Bud' becomes first hurricane of 2012

As expected 'Bud' has strengthened and become the first named hurricane of the 2012 season.
Bud is located off the Mexican coast in the Eastern Pacific.Bud has been growing in size. The center says those along the southwestern coast of Mexico should monitor the storm's progress.
Bud is centered about 420 miles (675 kilometers) south-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, and is moving northwest near 6 mph (11 kph).
The storm is expected to turn toward the north-northeast on Thursday and Friday and could threaten the Mexican mainland as a tropical storm.
