SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities in southern Utah say they averted a potential deadly road trip after arresting a bus driver for DUI just before he was to take a group of recent high school graduates to Disneyland.
Brandon Gillman was booked into the Iron County Jail Thursday night on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence. He remained jailed Friday. No telephone number was listed for the 30-year-old, and it wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.
Cedar City police Lt. Darin Adams says the officer went to the scene to screen students' bags for drugs when the K-9 alerted on Gillman's backpack. Adams says they found prescription pills and what is believed to be cocaine.
The roughly 100 students set off to Disneyland later with a new driver.
