The San Luis Obispo City Council was supposed to discuss Tuesday night an increase to city bus fares but that has now been postponed.
The proposal includes increasing the 31 day pass for seniors and the disabled from $12.50 to $15, establishing a transfer fee of 75 cents for adults and 40 cents for seniors and the disabled.
It's also being proposed to raise trolly fares from 25 cents to 50 cents for adults and establishing a fare of 25cents for seniors and the disabled.
We talked with the San Luis Obispo City Transit Manager.
He says the issue was delayed because the fiscal year is closing out and they want to make sure have the right revenue numbers.
In the meantime, bus riders are voicing their opinions on the proposed fare increases.
Kyle Jordan, San Luis Obispo resident, said, "I understand the reason behind it . We're in a bad economy but I don't like it myself. I don't want to pay extra."
The last time bus rates were raised was last June.
The issue has been rescheduled for the October 5th city council meeting.
