MODESTO, Calif. (AP) - A registered sex offender is back behind bars after being arrested for allegedly groping a teenage girl on a Modesto bus the day after he was released from a California prison.
The Modesto Bee reports (http://bit.ly/QYGujk ) that four homeless men who were riding the same city bus Tuesday morning pulled 37-year-old Kevin Long off the 15-year-old girl and restrained him until police arrived.
Modesto police say Long was paroled from Corcoran State Prison on Monday.
Witnesses and police say made sexual comments to the school-bound teen before lunging at her and fondling her.
The Bee reports that Long has prior convictions for assault with intent to commit rape, burglary and making terrorizing threats.
He was jailed on charges including lewd acts with a minor, sexual battery and violating parole.
