SEAL BEACH, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California hair salon is set to reopen this weekend more than a year after a shooting rampage left eight people dead.
The Long Beach Press-Telegram reports (http://bit.ly/SZ1wNp ) that Salon Meritage in Seal Beach will have its open house Sunday.
Prosecutors say a gunman sprayed the salon with bullets in October 2011 after arguing with his ex-wife over custody of their 8-year-old son. The woman, who was a stylist, and the salon owner were among the dead.
A stylist who stepped out for a break when the shooting occurred has become the salon's new owner. Irma Acosta says she has renovated the salon to create a safe place for customers. She said six stylists who worked in the old salon will be coming back.
