Cabrillo water polo routs defending LPL champion Nipomo

Fueled by a 9-0 run in the first half, the Cabrillo High boys water polo team cruised to a 15-4 Los Padres League win at Nipomo on Wednesday.

The Conquistadores improved to 2-0 in league and 9-3 overall. The Titans, the defending league champions, fell to 0-2 in league and 1-4 overall.

The Titans struck first on a goal from Zac Miller. Cabrillo answered with a 9-0 run to lead 9-1 at the half started by a goal form Noah Caro. Phillip Naughton scored twice in the first half, while Eduardo Cardenas scored three times in that first half run. Nick Matulis, Cannon Creese and Kieran Carroll also scored during the run for Cabrillo.

Nipomo goalie Luke Buchanan registered 15 saves for the Titans. Miller scored twice for Nipomo, while Alex Martinez and Brandon Wing each scored once.
