Coming off one of the most upset-filled weekends in FCS history, there were plenty of changes in the Top 25 this week.
Eastern Washington, which is in a tie for first place in the Big Sky Conference standings with Cal Poly, climbed to #1 in the Sports Network Media Poll and the FCS Coaches Poll. 5-1 Eastern Washington knocked off previous #2 Montana State on Saturday. MSU dropped to #5 this week. 5-1 James Madison is ranked #2 this week in both polls, while Georgia Southern is #3.
Cal Poly climbed one spot to #14 in the Media Poll and two slots to #12 in the FCS Coaches poll after its 56-28 win over Northern Colorado. The Mustangs are 6-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
They received 3 first place votes this week and a total of 2,022 points in the Media Poll. Nine teams with 1 loss apiece and 2 squads with 2 losses are ranked ahead of the Mustangs in the Media Poll.
The Mustangs received 356 total points in the Week 7 Coaches Poll. Eight teams with 1 loss and 2 with 2 losses are ranked ahead of the undefeated Mustangs.
Cal Poly hosts Portland State Saturday in a conference game. Mustangs' head coach Tim Walsh is the Vikings' all-time winningest coach. The 2012 Portland State Hall of Fame Inductee coached the Vikings for 14 seasons and posted a 90-68 overall record, guiding the Vikings to the NCAA playoffs four times.
The game will be televised live on KSBY-TV. The pregame show is at 5:30 pm, with kickoff to follow at 6:05 pm.
