Cal Poly football announced it will play seven games against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents over the next five years, including its first ever Pac-10 team. The Mustangs will take on Arizona State on September 19, 2015.
"I think this will raise our visibility, both in the community and it also points us in the direction where we want to be," second year head coach Tim Walsh said in a press release. "Not to disrespect anyone, but scheduling teams like Arizona State and Fresno State will tell everyone we can say goodbye to Dixie States and hello to Division I football."
Cal Poly has at least one game against an FBS school on its football schedule in five of the next six seasons. The Mustangs will play Fresno State on October 2, 2010 and San Diego State on September 3, 2011. They will also play Northern Illinois on September 24, 2011.
In 2012, the Mustangs will play at Wyoming on September 14. The 2013 campaign features a September 7 game at Fresno State and a September 14 game at Colorado State.
