Cal Poly football has landed a fourth player on the series of College football Performance Awards watch lists. This time it's linebacker Nick Dzubnar, who's one of 35 players from the FCS added to the linebacker watch list.
The 6-2, 240 Dzubnar will move from outside linebacker to middle linebacker for the 2013 season, replacing Kennith Jackson, who was a senior last fall.
As a sophomore, Dzubnar led the Mustangs with 107 total tackles, including 61 solo stops. He recorded 5.5 tackles for lost yardage, including one sack. He forced two fumbles and recovered two others. He also tallied 5 pass breakups and 1 interception, which he returned 40 yards for a touchdown at Northern Arizona.
Dzubnar was an All-Big Sky Honorable Mention last fall.
Senior defensive tackle Sullivan Grosz, junior running back Kristaan Ivory and junior wide receiver Willie Tucker have already been added to watch lists for their respective positions.
CFPA, the largest awards organization in Division I college football, selects players exclusively based upon scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
There are currently 111 CFPA recipients listed on official 2013 NFL rosters. 21 of them have been first round NFL Draft selections.
The winners will be announced on January 8, 2014.
