Cal Poly men's basketball releases ambitious 2012-13 schedule

Calling it the most ambitious schedule he's ever put together, Cal Poly men's basketball head coach Joe Callero and the Mustangs Athletic Department unveiled the schedule for the 2012-13 season on Wednesday.

The 29 game schedule includes games against UCLA, Washington and St. Mary's and ten total contests against teams that qualified for the postseason last season, as well as nine games against teams that had 20 or more wins a year ago.

Cal Poly is coming off an 18 win season, which ranks #2 all-time in the program's Division I history. The Mustangs return two starters and six letterwinners and welcome in six new freshmen.

Cal Poly opens its 19th season of Division I action on Friday, November 9 when it plays Texas Christian for the first time in program history. It'll be the Mustangs' first game against a Big 12 program since 2004.

Their home opener is Thursday, November 15 against Northern Colorado before welcome in Fresno State. Last year, the Mustangs won at Fresno State 65-46 for their win against the Bulldogs in 41 years. Cal Poly finished 10-4 last season.

The Mustangs travel to UCLA on Sunday, November 25. They'll play at St. Mary's on Saturday, December 1. Cal Poly travels to Santa Clara on Monday, December 17 and faces Washington for the first time in program history on Thursday, December 20.

Cal Poly opens its 17th season of Big West Conference action at UC Riverside on Saturday, December 29.
