Cal Poly men tie first place Sacramento State

The Cal Poly soccer team outplayed Sacramento State but had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The Mustangs outshot the Hornets 19-6 in Sacramento, including 11 shots on net. Cal Poly is now 7-5-1 overall, 2-2-1 in the Big West. Sacramento State is 7-4-2, 4-0-1 in the conference.

The Hornets got on the board first, Max Alvarez put one past Mustang goal keeper Wade Hamilton in the 50th minute. Cal Poly junior forward Mackenzie Pridham scored his team leading eighth goal of the season in the 67th minute to tie.

Hamilton made three saves in net for the Mustangs. Sacramento State keeper, Byan Oliver made ten saves.

Cal Poly hosts UC-Davis on Tuesday night at 7:00pm before traveling to Santa Barbara for a battle with the eighth ranked Gauchos on Friday night. The Aggies are 3-1 in the Big West, UCSB is 2-1-1 against the conference.
