Officials at Cal Poly report that a student died early Sunday Morning.

According to the University, University Police received a call at approximately 11:56 p.m. Saturday that a 20-year-old male student was in need of medical treatment.

When they arrived at the scene outside of a Poly Canyon Village residence hall, police started CPR on the unresponsive man.

He was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.

University Police are still investigating the matter.

Little information is available at this time.

Cal Poly President Jeffrey D. Armstrong expressed his condolences to the entire Cal Poly community. "We are saddened today to lose one of our own. Our deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones."
