Two women's soccer players from UCSB and one from Cal Poly were named to the Preseason All-Big Big West Conference Team this week.
Cal Poly senior midfielder Cici Kobinski earned the honor. She posted 2 goals and 2 assists last season as a junior and tallied 4 goals as a true freshman in 2009.
UCSB midfielder Erin Ortega is also on the honor roll. The senior scored 3 goals and dished out 2 assists last fall for the Gauchos. Junior goalkeeper Makenna Henry was one of two goalies named to the Preseason team. Last year as a sophomore, Henry had 68 saves and 5 shutouts.
UCSB finished fifth in the Preseason Coaches Poll, while Cal Poly was tabbed sixth.
Defending champion Long Beach State was the heavy favorite to repeat as champion. The 49ers received nine of the ten first place votes. They are led by reigning Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Year Nadia Link, who scored 16 goals last fall.
